I am so deeply moved and honoured that my play The Interrogation of Sandra Bland will be performed by 100 black women and women of colour at Goodman Theatre, Chicago on 29th April 2019. The performance will be directed by Simeilia Hodge-Dallaway and produced by Reginald Edmund of Black Lives, Black Words as part of BLACK LIVES MATTER. Sim and Reggie are calling out to all black women and women of colour to be part of this performance. See below for details. See you there!
JOIN THE REVOLUTION:
CALLING OUT TO ALL WOMEN OF COLOR FROM ACROSS THE WORLD
Morning Queens, this is your time to stand up in solidarity with 100 women of color to protest against the injustice and abuse inflicted on women of color from all over the world.
Black Lives, Black Words International Project, in partnership with the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, USA and with the support of Artistic Directors of the Future in London, UK, presents the ‘I AM… Fest’: A three-day festival dedicated to culturally diverse women and female identified artists, leaders and activists, a new, bold and ambitious strand of Black Lives, Black Words led by Simeilia Hodge-Dallaway (Executive director and Creative Producer) and Reginald Edmund (Managing Curating Producer).
This exciting festival will culminate in a USA premiere of ‘The Interrogation of Sandra Bland’ transcribed by Black British playwright Mojisola Adebayo and directed by Simeilia Hodge-Dallaway. Motivated by Sandra Bland’s arrest, the staged performance will be performed by 100 Women of Color on the Owen Stage at the Goodman Theatre on 29th April 2019.
Inspired by Sandra Bland’s video posts, we invite all women of color to take part in our event by using their talents to create a self-recorded art as activism video. We want to use our platform on the Goodman Theatre stage to pay homage to the many other women of color who have been subjected to police brutality.
Women of Color, we are powerful and we are at our most powerful when we are united.
– We want to hear from you!
