I had the most memorable Summer on the water with http://www.idlewomen.org

It was such an amazing experience to live and write and run workshops onboard the Selina Cooper, a floating arts centre for women and girls in Lancashire. I was moored on the Leeds to Liverpool canal alongside idle women caretakers Cis O’Boyle and Rachel Anderson in Church, Accrington. The project is in partnership with Super Slow way. Some of my highlights were developing content for a beautiful mural designed by Raksha Patel, working with Humraz women’s refuge, running interdisciplinary arts workshops at Lancashire Women’s Centre in Accrington, welcoming participants onto the boat and the serene towpath, hanging out with horses and geese, writing a new play STARS (a reading is coming soon at Ovalhouse!) and running writing workshops with Avaes Muhammad for Kinara Festival where I also performed an extract of MUHAMMAD ALI AND ME.
Now I am back on land with the fantastic cast and creative crew of MUHAMMAD ALI AND ME. The first day of rehearsal was AMAZING! It is so exciting to revive this work and take it to another artistic level at Albany Theatre October 6-15th and then touring boxing clubs all through black history month. Tickets are selling fast so make sure you book today! http://www.thealbany.org.uk/event_detail/1854/Theatre/Muhammad-Ali-and-Me
