After the Goodman Theatre… ICA this week!

Greetings all!
It’s always a good sign when I’m not blogging – it means I’m too busy writing and making! I just thought I’d take a moment to share that The Interrogation of Sandra Bland at Goodman Theatre Chicago this month was astonishing. The stage and stalls were united by the voices of women-of-colour standing in the shoes of our sista, Sandra Bland. And then, as if called up by those women, new evidence emerged of her unjust arrest. Let there be justice and let her rest in peace. Blessings and love to all Sandra Bland’s friends and family…
After Chicago I went to the University of Oviedo and was so touched that people in Spain were so open to hearing about Afriquia (black / queer) theatre.
This week, I am so excited to be performing alongside my queer-o Isabel Waidner at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. I went there when I was very young and was always so overwhelmed by the poshness of it all. And now we are performing in a night https://www.ica.art/live/class-queers-and-the-avant-garde about queer avant-garde working class art! Big up Isabel for making this happen! I am so excited to be a part of this and to reclaim that art space – yes! Here’s a link, come along on Thursday night if you can, it’s cheap as all good art should be. I’ll be presenting extracts from my new play STARS which opens next year…
And lastly on the stream-of-consciousness update, I’ve finished writing Wind / Rush Generation(s) for the National Theatre. It is a huge honour. I can’t wait to listen to the reading next week. More on the public performances soon! Wind / Rush Generation(s) will also be published as part of National Theatre Connections in 2020, as will Mojisola Adebayo: Plays Two which is with the typesetter as we speak! So, blessed…
One love,
Mojisola
